2017 saw the addition to the Warsaw skyline of a prestigious building destined to become a new icon in the capital's urban landscape: Złota 44. This residential tower block is characterised by curved glass walls reminiscent of wind-filled sails. The building is the work of the starchitect Daniel Libeskind, who wanted to pay homage to his native land with this edifice.
The luxurious structure, 54 floors and 192 metres high, has room for 251 apartments and various leisure facilities for its residents: a terrace with a garden, a 25-metre steel swimming pool, a recreation area for children, a fitness centre and a spa with a Turkish bath.
Lighting designers Paweł Skulimowski and Grzegorz Wróbel went with Rio 1 linear profiles and recessed them into the pavement in front of the entrance to the building, using light to connect the structure’s indoor and outdoor spaces. The diffuse-light fixtures were installed in continuous lines at different angles, extending the design of the facade, which features backlit metal panels fixed to the building's glazed surfaces. The Rio linear profile is particularly suited to public settings thanks to its IK10 impact protection: this guarantees maximum resistance to impacts.
Złota 44 has received numerous accolades, including three European Property Awards 2015 – the project emerged as the winner of the Best Apartment, Best Residential Development and Best Residential High-Rise Development categories for Poland.
