Inaugurated in July 2025, the Marina Bridge in Francavilla al Mare is a new pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting the two sides of the seafront across the Alento River. The bridge completes the Adriatic coast’s “slow travel” network, bringing together the routes of the Ciclovia Adriatica and Bike to Coast into a single, safe, continuous link.

Featuring a single-span cable-stayed structure, the bridge has a strong architectural identity. The bridge is approximately 60 metres long and 5 metres wide. It is supported by a 70-metre-high sculptural pylon, from which the stay cables fan out, defining the structure’s profile and emphasising its contemporary character.

The lighting design was conceived to follow and highlight the structure’s geometry, making light an integral part of the architecture. Adjustable brackets on the Colorado 6.2 RGBW outdoor linear profiles enable the light to be directed along the angle of the pylon and structural elements. Grazing light follows their vertical lines, accentuating their upward sweep and geometry.

The RGBW technology, with multicolour high-intensity power LEDs, allows dynamic, customisable lighting scenes, controlled via the DMX-RDM protocol. This provides maximum flexibility when creating different lighting atmospheres and programming themed lighting schemes or special events.

Particular attention was paid to the installation’s reliability in a coastal environment exposed to salt spray, wind and harsh weather conditions. Colorado profiles feature a body made of Anticorodal® low-copper-content aluminium, stainless steel brackets and components designed for high corrosion resistance and exceptional durability. The recessed optics improve visual comfort, while the extra-clear glass screen protects against impact and abrasion.
