Going Dark 2025

Share

Once again, in 2025, L&L Luce&Light will be the technical partner at Going Dark, the international workshop created by Traverso-Vighy Architetti and Light Collective, which returns to the charming village of Abbadia a Isola (Monteriggioni), on the Via Francigena, in the heart of Tuscany.

From 2 to 4 October 2025, architects, lighting designers and landscape architects will come together to explore a theme that’s particularly close to our hearts: how to design light that respects darkness and nature, and protects the night sky. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of lighting at historical and natural sites, while learning to balance aesthetic, functional and environmental requirements.

For the second year running, we will be making our technology available to support participants in their on-site trials. We’ll be providing a wide variety of optics – from elliptical to very narrow – glare control, the appropriate colour temperature, and dimming systems, for lighting that is both effective and responsibly designed.

Going Dark is not just a workshop: it is a shared experience that demonstrates how light, architecture and landscape can coexist in harmony with nature.

Sign up for the event and come and explore a new way of thinking about light, in perfect balance with the landscape and the sky.

"The idea for Going Dark came about while on holiday in Tuscany, when we realised that you could still see the Milky Way in that small village: a rarity these days. That sparked a question: Why not take action? Hand the lights over to professional lighting designers and invite them to engage directly with the stars. That’s how a workshop was born that combines practical work and conscious design to rediscover the value of darkness and the balance between artificial light and nature."
